Baby on the Way

I met this beautiful, young couple out at Blendon Woods this evening. We had postponed the session last night due to potential bad weather and ended up with such a gorgeous evening tonight!
One of my favorite things about this job is getting to watch people interact with each other. This couple is so in love and were just adorable to watch flirting and dancing around with each other. I got to meet two of their “babies” this evening (Lily & Rudy who joined us for some photos along the pet trail). In another month or so I’ll also get to meet the real baby, so keep your eyes peeled for an update!

Footloose

I met up with the W’s this evening at the New Albany Country Club. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening. The boys, F & T, were fantastic…a healthy dose of ornery with just a dash of freckles! These two brothers would wrestle around, climb trees and just be downright adorable. No wonder F already has two girlfriends! Enjoy the sneak peek!

Now and Then

I had the amazing privilege of photographing J & D’s wedding a few years ago and today got to meet their new baby, Mr. C! It was so surreal to go from watching these lovebirds exchange their vows to caring for and loving such a beautiful little boy. (He is such a cutie-patootie!) And, for just over three months old, this little guy had so much strength and energy. At one point he was even sitting up on his own! Anyway, I hope you enjoy these adorable smiles and his sweet sleeping.

Gallery Hop w/ Rebecca O’Neil

Just wanted to pass along info for our June Gallery Hop night/Open House. Come out Saturday, June 6th between 4-10pm to see artwork by local artist, Rebecca O’Neil on display at our studio. Come after 7pm to meet Rebecca herself during her artist’s reception. Below is an excerpt from Rebecca’s website and it was so beautiful, I just had to share. We really hope you can make it out and share this info with all your friends. We’d be ecstatic if we could grow these events to huge proportions!
These are the reasons:
The door in the bookshelves.
Vines that curl like cursive.
Thin crescent moons.
Sunlight behind eyelids.
A house at the edge of the world.
A frog with butterfly wings.
Downward-curving stairs.
A tree full of fireflies.
A jeweled heart in a green jungle.
Water lilies that glow like bleached hair.
The pink star inside the red lollipop.
Flowers creeping over books.
The shadows of veins.
The shadows of eyelashes.
Stories.
Music.
Color.

Lovely Family
Inniswoods was simply beautiful this evening! It was the perfect location for this fabulous family. I had such a great time being entertained by “I” and “C” between knock-knock jokes, hopping around and their overall conversation. I felt like I would have had just as enjoyable of a time if we met up over coffee…so charming and sweet! I loved photographing them as they twirled in circles; Mr. “I” grinned quietly and Miss “C”’s curls waved wildly in the breeze. Enjoy the images!

Sisters on Campus

I met these soon-to-be college grads this evening at the studio before heading out to OSU campus for more portraits together. They were such an adorable pair of sisters! We discovered several similarities along the way as well. This duo used to be babysat by my sister-in-law’s mother and they went to the same school as a couple of my cousins. All this, and we both grew up a couple hours away from here and ended up in the same city. Every day that I meet more people, I’m continually surprised by how small the world really is. Enjoy the preview!

Bar Mitzvah Pt. II

What a fantastic evening for G’s Bar Mitzvah reception! His friends and family were there to celebrate with him. Stunning artwork, sumptuous food, games and dancing were all a part of the festivities. Below are a few images to give you a taste of what the evening had to offer!

Bar Mitzvah

I met with G. and his family again last night for a session at Agudas Achim in preparation of his Bar Mitzvah. I took several photos with G’s parents and brothers, but just wanted to share some of his individual images. I’m looking forward to sharing even more after the reception tomorrow evening!

Sunset Lake

This is the amazing location I blogged about last week. I was so excited to get to photograph both E. and her little brother, D. here, and I have a feeling they had a good time as well! When we started out, I wasn’t so sure how E. would take to the water (she was concerned at the start about getting her feet & dress dirty), but once we let her know that dirt was okay, she opened up and waded right in, knee deep! And D. had a blast watching geese, waving to a nearby canoe and tossing large rocks into the water. Poor mom, though…I just realized a few minutes ago that I gave her quite a bit of laundry to do after her last session as well!
Thanks so much for being a great sport, M. and having such a beautiful family!

Karen Burkhart CD Release
I promised to keep you updated starting in January about Karen Burkhart’s debut CD release. Her music arrived on my doorstep, so thought I’d share some snaps of the cover.

I also promised to keep you updated on our trip to the zoo earlier this week. Everywhere I go, there’s a buzz about the baby elephant, so what would be more perfect than sharing a pic of him!?

NASO 4 Miler
Well, here I was mentioning the New Albany Symphony Orchestra event in a previous post, and didn’t even share some pics! Here’s a small sampling, or view even more by visiting this link. I was certain it was going to rain, but don’t recall feeling a single raindrop.
Today, however, was a different story. Ryan and I headed out to the zoo for Ry to polish up his photography skills, but got rained out pretty quickly. I’ll try to share some pics from this in the next few days as well!

This and That

This spring has been so beautiful that I couldn’t resist spending my “days off” out photographing this week. Here’s a bit to share with you. Oh, and please, if you know of someone who has an ornery little boy with lots of freckles around 8 years old, or a daughter with those “old soul” eyes about the same age, send them my way! I discovered the most magical spot with trees growing up from the water that I’m afraid may not be here as summer approaches. I’d waive the session fee to be able to get my hands on someone perfect for this little spot. Disclaimer, this definitely involves getting muddy and wet to get down into those trees!
Speaking of timing, Ryan and I were out at Play Ball New Albany and then again for the New Albany Symphony Orchestra 4 Miler event over the weekend. There was an awesome turnout for both, though I was a little concerned to hear so many people say that they were holding out for summer for their portraits. Spring is one of the most perfect times of the year! Everything is lush and green, there’s no blazing sun beating down on you and flowers are just blossoming everywhere. I know I’m always on a natural high this time of year!
We do still have an opening this Saturday, but after that, if you’re looking for a weekend session, June 20th is the next available and then August 8th after that. (Of course there are always early mornings or after school hours during the week as well.) If you would like to schedule a session, or to be put on a waiting list, don’t hesitate to get in touch! I’m starting to think that it may not be too early to start planning your fall portraits as well by the rate our Saturdays have been filling up. Crazy how time flies!
